Although the Montana State Fair is wrapping up for the season, if your county fair hasn't started you can most likely still enter. Many people think they have to belong to 4-H or another organization to enter the local fair, but that's not the case. There are open categories so everyone can join the fun.
Grant and I started entering several years ago with the help of my friend, LeAna, who was a powerhouse in the floral exhibits at the Northwestern Montana Fair in Kalispell. She told us how to go about it, and after scoring a few blue ribbons, we were hooked. There's nothing like going to the fair to see how you did. It's like Christmas morning!
