(Sorry, I couldn't resist the title.) After our blizzard last week that dumped over two feet of snow on us, I'm feeling more pressure to catch up with planting in the garden.
Today, I wanted to plant all of my cabbage and broccoli, but was delayed due to wind. It was howling - of course, drying out the benefit of the snow's moisture - and is very hard on new seedlings. Since I was pressed for time (Sam was running about and John was sleeping in his crib so I was in checking on him every couple of minutes) I had to scurry about finding something to protect them. Large yogurt containers and one gallon pots were the best I could do on short notice. I managed to plant only four before John woke up. And, to true Montana form, an hour after I planted them it hailed. The poor little leaves have holes in them, but I think they'll be fine.
Tonight I'm going to take the bottoms off of more containers, and hopefully plant the remaining transplants tomorrow. Hopefully without the wind, but I'll be prepared just in case!
