I chose this picture of Sam to illustrate how I feel about this stinking storm. This weather is so not funny. It is unrelenting.
I still have all of the plants in the dining room and kitchen, but the lack of sunshine is evident as they stretch towards the light of the sliding glass door. The good part is it's very warm and steamy in here since I'm boiling water on the stove to benefit poor little John who has a very stuffy nose, plus the area is warm from baking bread today (what else should I do with weather like this?). But the lack of light hurts them.
The moisture should do the lettuce, spinach, kale and radishes I planted last week, but frankly, rain would do the same. The big drift in the corner of the garden is smashing the golden currants that are on the verge of blooming - a much anticipated event since their fragrance is heavenly - and another drift is pliling over the area where I planned to plant potatoes. Guess I'll have to wait a few extra days on that one. I prefer to have the garden in early; at this rate it's going to be June!
Here are a couple of pictures of the garden from this morning. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite show the horizontal snow as well as it should.
